Apply Now for Tuition Assistance: Preschool Starts August 21

NEWS RELEASE – (Cincinnati, OH – August 2, 2017) – Parents and caregivers are encouraged to apply now for Preschool Promise tuition assistance with community providers for the 2017/18 school year which starts August 21st. Tuition assistance can help families pay for quality preschool. Parents can apply by calling 513-447-4CPP (4277) or with their preschool provider.

Assistance will be provided in the form of tuition credits paid directly to a community-based Preschool Promise provider selected by the family. Families who live within the boundary of the Cincinnati Public School District are eligible to apply for tuition assistance. Preschool Promise will offer tuition assistance to children who will benefit the most: 4-year old children from families with household incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level ($48,600 for a family of four.)

“Now is the time for parents to apply for tuition assistance and enroll your child with a community provider. Quality preschool is one of the best strategies to help children get off to a good start and succeed in school and in life.,” said Stephanie Byrd, Senior Vice President, Early Learning Strategies, United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Interim Executive Director, Cincinnati Preschool Promise. “Our goal is to expand access to quality preschool in school and community-based providers so that more Cincinnati children are ready for success in kindergarten.”

Tuition assistance credits can be used at highly-rated preschool providers located in the CPS boundary. Participating community providers are listed below and can also be found at: www.cincy-promise.org/preschool-promisepreschools. Quality rated preschools are defined as having a three, four or five‐star rating based on the State of Ohio’s “Step Up to Quality” star rating system that is administered by the Ohio Department of Education.

Preschool providers located in the Cincinnati Public School boundary may apply to participate at www.cincy-promise.org/providers.

Cincinnati Preschool Promise is a non-profit organization which will expand access to quality preschools in Cincinnati. Preschool expansion is made possible thanks to a significant investment from taxpayers who approved a 5-year Cincinnati Public Schools levy in 2016. The levy includes $33 million a year to strengthen K-12 education and $15 million a year to expand access to quality preschool.
