Preschool Promise Tuition Assistance Expands to Three Year Olds
NEWS RELEASE – (Cincinnati, OH) – Cincinnati Preschool Promise (CPP) seats are now open to local 3-year-old students.
Tuition assistance has been available to 4-year-old children in families living up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) – equal to $48,600 per year for a family of four. Members of the CPP Board announced today that assistance will now expand to 3-year-olds at or below 200% FPL.
Tuition assistance can be used at more than 75 Preschool Promise-approved public and private preschools within the Cincinnati Public School district boundary. Approved providers are quality-rated with three, four or five stars from the State of Ohio’s “Step Up to Quality” star-rating system, which is administered by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. A list of providers can be found on the Cincinnati Preschool Promise website.
“Voters approved the Cincinnati Preschool Promise with the expectation that quality preschool will be accessible to children from low income families who live in the Cincinnati school district,” said Michael J. Graham, S.J., president of Xavier University and chairman of the CPP Board of Directors. “Providing this opportunity through CPP has been like creating a start-up business focused on a very important and precious customer base. We are thrilled to be able to expand the number of children and families we serve in our first year.”
Preschool enrollment is ongoing. Families are encouraged to apply with their preschool provider or call 513-447-4277. Preschool providers within the Cincinnati Public School boundary may apply to participate at www.cincy-promise.org/providers.

Cincinnati Preschool Promise is a non-profit organization which will expand access to quality preschools in Cincinnati. Preschool expansion is made possible thanks to a significant investment from taxpayers who approved a 5-year Cincinnati Public Schools levy in 2016. The levy includes $33 million a year to strengthen K-12 education and $15 million a year to expand access to quality preschool.
