Cincinnati Preschool Promise board endorses Issue 24
“Cincinnati Preschool Promise and Cincinnati Public Schools are partnering to ensure our youngest learners have a strong start,” said Michael J. Graham, S.J., president of Xavier University and chairman of the CPP Board of Directors. “Members of the Cincinnati Preschool Promise board are pleased to endorse the upcoming CPS levy.”
During the meeting, board members commented about the importance of ensuring the district have enough resources to provide high-quality education for local students.
“I can’t imagine anything more important than to support a continuing of investment in education for our community,” CPP Board Member Cheryl Rose said during the meeting.
“When we are wildly successful with having children prepared for school, if the schools aren’t ready for them, it was a waste of effort,” CPP Board Member Sallie Westheimer added. “It has to be a partnership.”
“It’s a classic no-brainer,” CPP Board member John Pepper said.
The levy is up for renewal this November. It covers 10 percent of the district’s operating budget and, as a renewal, will not raise taxes.
