Search for New Executive Director Begins
CINCINNATI PRESCHOOL PROMISE SEEKS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Qualified applicants must apply by July 19, 2019
The search is underway for a new executive director for Cincinnati Preschool Promise (CPP), the initiative to expand high quality preschool for 3 and 4-year-olds in the City of Cincinnati.
The search committee is being led by CPP Board member Toilynn O’Neal Turner, director of diversity recruitment and retention at St. Ursula Academy and executive director at Queen City Foundation. She is joined by fellow CPP Board members Christine Fisher, a former P&G executive and member of the Audit Committee for Cincinnati Public Schools; Terry England, owner of New Horizons Child Care Center and Dr. Yousuf Ahmad, President and CEO of AssureCare.
Sallie Westheimer is currently serving as interim executive director of CPP. Westheimer is a former CPP board member and for nearly 35 years served as president/CEO of 4C for Children, the region’s pioneering leader, advocate and resource for high-quality early childhood education. She took on the interim role when CPP Executive Director Shiloh Turner resigned in May.
“With Shiloh’s departure, and a couple years’ experience into this important and new work for the CPP board, I was tasked with getting feedback from a variety of stakeholders to be sure that the job description and desired leadership qualities are in alignment with the work that needs to be done,” said O’Neal. “That process is complete. I am grateful for the thoughtful feedback and the position is now posted.”
Centennial Talent Strategy & Executive Search is assisting with the search process. Becky Scheeler, VP for Client Engagement at Centennial, is working with O’Neal and the CPP search committee. The job posting may be found here. The deadline for applications is July 19, 2019.
In 2016, CPP and Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) asked voters to approve a $48 million dollar, five-year levy, $15 million, of which was dedicated to expanding high quality preschool. Voters approved the initiative and preschool advocates are preparing for a renewal campaign in 2020.

Cincinnati Preschool Promise is a non-profit organization which will expand access to quality preschools in Cincinnati. Preschool expansion is made possible thanks to a significant investment from taxpayers who approved a 5-year Cincinnati Public Schools levy in 2016. The levy includes $33 million a year to strengthen K-12 education and $15 million a year to expand access to quality preschool.
