Our community’s greatest challenge in expanding the availability of high-quality preschool is in attracting and retaining qualified teachers. As a preschool teacher, your hard work ensures our youngest learners are in good hands— and keeping talented teachers like you is an imperative of Cincinnati Preschool Promise.

If you’re a teacher at one of our Cincinnati Preschool Promise-approved providers, you may be eligible for continuing education, professional development and supplemental pay grants.

In the 2021-22 program year, 62 Lead Teachers at 38 Tuition Assistance program sites received Teacher Promise Grants.

THE TEACHER PROMISE GRANTS PROGRAM 

For Lead Teachers at Tuition Assistance Providers

Lead preschool teachers at 3-, 4- and 5-star Tuition Assistance providers may be eligible for wage supplements of up to $4,000 per year, plus Teacher Advancement Bonuses of up to $1000 for professional development or educational advancement.

To eligible to apply, you must be employed full-time, by your school for at least 6 weeks, as a Lead Preschool Teacher with a minimum level 3CPL. Your school must have at least 10% CPP enrollment.

Providers may enroll 2 Lead Preschool Teachers per 10 CPP Preschool enrollments and 1 Lead Preschool Teacher for CPP enrollments under 10. This applies to Type A and Center-Based programs.

GRANTEE REQUIREMENTS

In order to remain eligible for the Teacher Promise Grant, you will need to achieve the following:

  • Complete at least 10 hours of Ohio Approved professional development during 12-month grant cycle 
  • Attend one Grantee event during 12-month grant cycle 
  • Participate in brief quarterly surveys for program evaluation

TEACHER ADVANCEMENT BONUSES 

You can earn bonuses for the following professional development and educational achievements. Bonus amounts vary based on current CPL.

  • PD Certificate Tier 2 : $200-500 
  • PD Certificate Tier 3 : $200-500 
  • Credential or Certificate I : $350-500 
  • Credential or Certificate II : $150-300 
  • Per 3 credits completed toward an AA, BA, or CDA credential : $150-300 
  • Upon completion of an AA, BA, or CDA credential : $1000

QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS Staff Support Fund

For Teachers at Quality Improvement Providers

Lead Preschool Teachers at unrated, 1- or 2-star rated Providers who are engaged in our Quality Improvement process may be eligible for support through our new granting program, to be announced soon.
